Katirgamam Murugan Koyil

Katirkamam is one of the rare places on earth, where grace descends in abundance. The Lord spent His childhood in  Tiruchendur and took Mahasamadhi at Kathirgamam. If anyone goes to  Kathirgamam (Sri Lanka) with faith, devotion and piety, and stays in the temple for  two or three days , the Lord Himself grants His vision to the devotee."  Katirkama Skanda, the favorite deity of Sri Lanka, draws pilgrims in thousands.


 

Thirukonesawaram

Thirukoneswaram is one of the five Eswarams- Sivan temples in Sri Lanka. The temple is situated on the top most pinnacle of the Swamy rock. And it's known as the Southern Kailasam.

 

 

 


 

Thiruketheeswaram

THIRUKETHEESWARAM IS an ancient temple in Manthottamam, in Mannar District, about seven miles north of the Mannar Town. According to legend, it was at this ancient temple that Kethu Bhagavan worshipped Lord Easwaram (Shiva). Hence the shrine acquired the name of Thiruketheeswaram.

This temple dedicated to the worship of the Supreme God Siva has been the most venerated for centuries and the holy waters of the Palavi Tank by its side are venerated in the sacred hymns of two great Saivite saints, Thirugnana Sambandhar and Sundarar, who lived in the 7th and 8th Centuries respectively.

In Sri Lanka and beyond, Nallur Kumaran is popularly known as Alankara Kanthan (Lord of exquisite adornment). The annual festival of Nallur Kumaran temple is conducted during July or August of each year for 28 days. It commences with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by Mancham, Kailaya Vahanam, Oru Muga Tiruvizha, Saparam, Ther and Teertham and the finale is Tiru Kalyanam.

Devotees of the temple are of the view that Kumaran worship means, “avan arulal avan thal vananki” and “ennai thaduthu atkonda”. Many narrate their experiences where the Lord had initially intervened in a crisis in their lives, consequently bringing about a change in attitude of the devotee, leading to spiritual insights and mystical experiences, finally confirming the truth of oneness of the self with God. The uniqueness of Nallur Kumaran is asserted as the magnetic connection he has with his devotees.

Sita Ram Nuwarelya Temple

The Sita Eliya temple is located at the exact place where Sita was held captive by the demon-king Ravana, king of Sri Lanka, in Ramayana. Sita, the wife of king of Rama, was imprisoned in the Ashoka forests (Ashoka Vanam) of the region. The temple complex is situated approximately 5 km from the Nuwara Eliya town on the road to Kandy.

"There is a rock on the opposite bank where Sita sat and meditated. There is also a particular point in the stream, the water has no taste. This is the spot Sita cursed. "You cannot drink the water". However you can drink the water further downstream,
